Problem Statement

Coming to New York is a dream of many but the only challenge for vegetarians is to survive here.

Overview

The project aims to develop an app to meet the needs of individuals interested in vegetarian and vegan food in New York City. This app will serve as a one-stop platform for discovering -

  • vegetarian-friendly restaurants

  • accessing nutritious recipes

  • connecting with the vegetarian community

  • staying updated on vegetarian events and initiatives in the city.

Research Objectives

1.Understand the needs, preferences, and behaviours of individuals interested in vegetarian and vegan food within the context of New York City. 

2. Identify the challenges faced by vegetarians and vegans in navigating the city’s culinary landscape, accessing reliable information, discovering vegetarian-friendly resources, and connecting with the vegetarian community. 

3. Explore the factors influencing decision-making processes regarding vegetarian and vegan dining choices, including taste preferences, health considerations, environmental concerns, and ethical reasons. 

4. Examine the existing gaps and opportunities for improving the vegetarian dining and lifestyle experiences in New York City, including suggestions for enhancing restaurant offerings, community engagement, and digital platforms.

  1. Price Filters: Add options to filter restaurants and food from low to high price and vice versa, making it easier for users to find options within their budget.

  2. Ingredient-Based Filters: Allow filtering recipes by the availability of ingredients, ensuring users can easily find recipes they can make with what they have.

  3. Egg Specification: Clearly specify if egg has been added to any food item, as eggs are not considered vegetarian by some users.

Feedback
  • The app looks very informative with all the details covered. It's a multi-purpose app for vegetarians where I can look for restaurants (timing, rating, reviews, distance), recipes (different cuisines with ratings and reviews), and different events nearby. As well I can also upload my food pics, reviews, recipes, and post comments and add ingredients as well.

  • There are a lot of vegetarians and vegans in New. York and nearby for whom this app will be very useful. You can target nearby places as well.

  • But will have to improve on the UI (layout) and arrangement of all the information due to which few things are unclear.
